There is a first time for everything. It was done in the early 1960's by Mr. Greenjeans on Captain Kangaroo, a live TV show for children. He laid an upright string bass across his lap like a guitar and sang silly songs. Even though I don't remember the songs, except my favorite ('I Love Ping-Pong Balls'), I never forgot the experience.
