A very unique solo string bass act
'Bassics' was recorded in a single day. The string bass, vocals and hi-hat are performed simultaneously (no double tracking) on all nine tracks which are also live first takes and presented in the originally recorded sequence.

| You Gotta Believe | Dan Hicks | the Hot Licks | |
| This tune is very difficult to classify. Perhaps 'jazz-country' comes closest. It is quite unique. I love the lyrics and it is one of my very favorite songs. | ||

| Stray Cat Strut | Brian Setzer | the Stray Cats | |
| This song has a raw edge that I have always liked. It is one of the most requested songs in my repertoire from all age groups. I used to be a substitute teacher and the kids really loved this one. | ||

| Faith of the Heart | Diane Warren | (Star Trek 'Enterprise' Theme Song) | |
| Official Title: 'Where My Heart Will Take Me" - This is my newest song. I have been a Star Trek fan since the beginning. As soon as I heard the opening theme song for the new series (first season version), I knew I had to learn it. | ||

| Precious Lord | Thomas A. Dorsey | (Traditional Gospel Hymn) | |
| An amazing song which can be played in a church or on the street and anywhere in-between. Mr. Dorsey sat down and wrote it in one night in the grief following the death of his first wife and son during childbirth in 1932. | ||

| Twisted | Ward Gray | Annie Ross | Joni Mitchell |
| This is one of my oldest songs and still one of my favorites. The lyrics reflect my feelings about the 'medical industry' in general. Take some responsibility for your own health. Do some research. The body knows how to heal itself. | ||

| Rocky Raccoon | Paul McCartney | John Lennon | the Beatles |
| This version came about as the result of a request from the audience one evening at a gig or perhaps an open mic. I already had the bass out and thought, "What the heck?" It would have been a pain to switch back to guitar... and it sort of worked... | ||

| Drown In My Own Tears | Henry Glover | Ray Charles | |
| This is another newer tune for me. I learned it right after my soul-mate passed away in January of 2007. In April of that year I drove across the country singing it to myself repeatedly and, well, drowning in my own tears. | ||

| Midnight Hour | Wilson Pickett, Jr. | ||
| This one is just plain fun to play on the bass and sing. And, of course, every CD must have at least one song that fades out... fades out... fades out... fades out.......... | ||

| Centerpiece | Jon Hendricks | Harry Edison | Lambert, Hendricks and Ross |
| This is another older tune and was one of my soul-mate's favorites. Her name was Willow Wood and she truly was the 'centerpiece' of my life. I like the song a whole lot too. | ||
