'Classics' is a collection of my most recognizable songs along with a few lesser-known ones that are among my very favorites. All are performed with a traditional classical (gut string) guitar. Unlike 'Bassics', there is really nothing to set this collection apart from the thousands of other voice and guitar recordings in existence.
| Title | Music | Lyrics | Artists |
| Smokey Joe's Cafe | Jerry Leiber | Mike Stoller | the Crusaders |
| This song has an angst to it that I have always liked. It was by far the most requested song in my repertoire when I was a substitute teacher. I always brought my guitar to the classroom and the kids really loved this one. | |||
| Woodstock | Joni Mitchell | Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young | |
| This is one of the newest songs in my repertoire. I learned it for a special event called 'Winter Woodstock' and just fell in love with it. | |||
| Blackbird | Paul McCartney | John Lennon | the Beatles |
| This is another Beatles classic that I have been performing for some time. | |||
| Freedom | Bill Champlin | the Sons of Champlin | |
| This is one of my favorite songs, both for the lyrics and music. It is not well-known and it is one of the oldest songs in my repertoire. I learned it in the early 1970's. | |||
| Lazy | Tony Joe White | ||
| This laid back tune is another one of my lesser-known favorites that I have been doing for quite awhile. | |||
| Flying Song | George Benson | ||
| This is another one of my older songs and still one of my favorites. The lyrics reflect my feelings about life in general as do most of my songs. | |||
| Stray Cat Strut | Brian Setzer | the Stray Cats | |
| This song has a raw edge that I have always liked. It is one of the most requested songs in my repertoire from all age groups. It was another favorite of my students when I was substitute teacher. | |||
| The Nearness of You | Hoagy Carmichael | Ned Washington | Nora Jones |
| This is another newer tune for me. The lyrics totally express my feelings about my soul-mate who passed away in January 2007. | |||
| Desperado | Glen Frey | Don Henley | the Eagles |
| This is one I have been doing for some time. I love both the lyrics and music and it is my mom's favorite. I guess she thinks I'd "better let somebody love me before it's too late". Moms... sigh... Whatcha gonna do? | |||
| Your Mama Don't Dance | Jim Messina and Kenny Loggins | Loggins and Messina | |
| I've been doing this one for quite a while too. It's popular and actually works quite well with a classical guitar. | |||
| Baby, I'm Amazed | Paul McCartney | Wings | |
| Another classic that was originally accompanied by piano but works extremely well with classical guitar. | |||
| Everything Must Change | Ben Ighner | Nina Simone | |
| I love the lyrics to this mello jazz standard. Change is indeed the only constant in this universe. | |||
| Masquerade | Leon Russell | George Benson | |
| Even though this is an instrumental (guitar only), I love the lyrics to this one too. Oh, the masks we all wear. | |||
| Time in a Bottle | Jim Croce | ||
| This was my soul-mate's favorite song and is also one of mine. It certainly reflects my feelings about her. | |||
